For your entertainment: Jay Z’s Picasso Baby

There are few things in life these days that hold true meaning.

People don’t seem to value things of sentiment the way they used to.

We can often get lost in the chaos of this technological era.

Letters are non-existent, holiday cards are now sent via email, and people would rather send a text than have a real conversation.

Books, music, movies, photographs… everything is online.

We are loosing the joy in physically holding onto a memory.

There is one thing though that we can’t store on the cloud… clothes.

This is just a t-shirt.

An old, baggie, stretched out, t-shirt.

I love it.

Not only because it has a bomb ass Picasso painting printed on the front that is so cleverly named, “Head of a Woman in a Hat“, but also because it was my mother’s.

I have been asking her for this shirt since I moved out of the house over 5 years ago.

She finally gave it to me last summer.

As I tried it on in front of her, she noticed the baggie area in the stomach of the shirt.

She smiled at me and told me that she bought the shirt in Germany when she was pregnant with me, thus explaining why it was stretched out.

It might not seem like a big deal to some… but to me, learning that information warmed my heart.

Yeah, it’s stretched out and old but I made that change to the cloth when I was inside my mother, which is pretty fucking cool.

One shirt, one random piece of cloth, can evoke memories that will last a lifetime.

I will always have this shirt, then my daughter will, then her daughter will, by then it will be too old to wear… so hopefully someone will frame it.

Sure, it’s not the same as passing down a wedding dress… it’s much, much, better.
